Black Light Rugs, and black light items in general, react to the ultraviolet light from the sun or from an artificial black lamp. This is achieved by a dye with special chemical properties. The dye has one appearance in normal, visible light, and typically a more vibrant version of a similar color when viewed under black light.
This may be referred to as 'fluorescent' on our site - we make clear in the product description that products react with black light. For instance, take a look at the two photos, one under normal light, and the other under black light.
Black light rugs provide fun patterns and styles for everyday use even if they never encounter UV light. But, they really come alive in game rooms, exercise rooms, man caves, arcades, movie theaters bowling alleys, night clubs, and anywhere else that can handle the extra kick provided by the fluorescent effect
